Spring 2023 on Film

With the Summer Solstice now officially approaching, I figured it was time to have all of my spring film developed for perusing and reminiscing. I feel equal parts protective and elated that this hobby has grown so much in popularity as of late, since film photography has been a bit of niche hobby of mine since high school. I do feel that there is some rite of passage to spending late nights (sometimes all night) beneath the red light of a darkroom, ruining loads of expensive photo paper before getting a single print just right—all while breathing in who knows what kind of chemicals for hours on end. Sounds fun, right?

I’m so thankful for film labs that still exist these days, like The Find Lab, which is where I develop most of my film at this point. Although an expensive hobby at times, film photography has helped me remain tethered to the precious nostalgia of photography in its purest form. I can’t help but believe it qualifies as some sort of therapy to be forced to slow down, be intentional with each shot, and also practice a lot of patience even waiting for film to be shipped off and delivered—sometimes resulting in photos that are just totally meh, and sometimes pure magic.

Enjoy some highlights from this spring on film, from exploring new parts of Nashville, spending some solo time in my hometown of Birmingham, doing a little celebrating of birthdays here and there—and of course—a few shots from the Eras Tour. Once you’re finished, head on over to see even more film highlights from my 29th birthday! I certainly gave myself a lot of material to work with for these posts. I can’t wait to see which moments I’m able to capture this summer! Stay tuned<3
